The most amazing thing about UFO was the flexibility shown to accommodate very quick changes to the itinerary. Instead of going to Nubra Valley as per the itinerary, we decided to go to Pangong and requested them to make the change the same morning we were supposed to leave for Nubra. Their response time to make the change was just 10 minutes. We had an amazing trip with UFO and will look forward to another holiday with them.
A special mention for the driver - Karma Bhai - a thoroughly nice person, who enhanced the experience of the trip.

Nagaland Hornbill Experience
I love traveling and for me it had always been more about where I'm going than who I'm traveling with until i came across UFO. Traveling to a place I'v never been to before is exciting. I go with my instinct , have faith and trust the people I encounter along the way. However traveling with UFO to a place like Nagaland was a very enriching experience for me as i realized that traveling with a well seasoned team that goes out of its way to make your trip adventurous and fun is way better than traveling alone and wasting your time getting lost and figuring things out on your own. We camped at a site that was walking distance from the Hornbill Festival and went to Dzukou Valley on our second day.I was trekking after a long time and did not know what to expect. I don't think i would have managed spending a night at the Valley had the team not been with me. I had a splitting headache as we got there and they got me a pain killer. They had also carried an extra sleeping bag and got me blankets so i could be comfortable at night. The team was very helpful and considerate through out the 5 days that i spent with them in Nagaland. Their itinerary was perfect. It covered everything from trekking , camping to attending the hornbill festival and trying different kinds of food. We lit a bonfire and played music every night. It was amazing and I will definitely be traveling with them again :)

Mt. Kilimanjaro - 8 Day Lemosho
For a first-time trekker, I thought picking Mt. Kilimanjaro was maybe not the smartest choice. But thanks to UFO it felt like a breeze. The guides and crew were excellent in every single way. For a group of 8 trekkers, UFO deputed a total of 40 including 4 experienced guides, cooks, servers and porters. I was scared that for an 8 day trek the food might be an issue, but hats off to the chef. I don't think there was a single day where I didn't take a second helping. We got 3 hot meals served to us almost every single day. And trust me on this, after a tiring day of trekking the food is what you really look forward to the most.
The guides were very experienced and helpful throughout the trek, especially on the final day where they kept encouraging you to push yourself to reach the summit. If you are thinking of conquering the Roof of Africa, I would definitely recommend using UFO as your adventure guides. They prepare you for every step of the way - from buying your trekking gear to getting you safely back down.
Cheers UFO!

Adventure Meghalaya
Always wanted to travel to the North East of India and finally did when i signed up for Adventure Meghalaya with Ultimate Frontier Outlands (UFO Adventure Travel). We started our holiday spelunking(caving) in Mawmluh cave, Cherrapunjee. It was quiet an experience walking 150 m below sea level and wading through pools underground. We spotted bats, crayfish and various shapes of stalactites and stalagmites. A trek to the Living root bridges in Nongriat village was finally ticked off my bucket list and camping next to Rainbow waterfall was amazing. Next was canyoning at Mawlongbna, a quaint village near the Bangladesh border. Swimming through potholes and streams and climbing down waterfalls all the way to the Umkhakoi reservoir was so much fun!!
UFO services were upto the mark with their meals, attention to detail and professional approach!! Will definitely recommend traveling the North East India with UFO.

Rumtse to Tsokar (Customized Trek)
Let me start by introducing myself. I am a mom of three under 5 and a baker. So fitness took a back seat for me for a long time with everything else taking priority. When I did start trying to get fit again, I thought of doing a trek to challenge myself. A friend recommended I book the trek through UFO, knowing well that I was not made to slum it out. (Lol) And I did!
The next few months went in training for the trek as advised by the organizers. They kept in touch with us over email to keep reminding us to train and to help us out with our bookings and other minute details that first time trekkers normally need to research on their own.
When we got there, they received us at the airport and put up a little cultural show for us in the hotel because we were meant to relax on day 1 to acclimatize better. On Day 2 we went on an acclimatization walk and visited the sights of the leh city.. to be received at the end of the walk by a bunch of warm people and an amazing barbecue lunch in a picnic setting. (Hadn't done a picnic in while without my kids around and I have to admit it felt very good)
Day 3 we started our trek from Rumste to Tso kar. We trekked and camped for 3 days and 4 nights (they organized 2 nights of camping for us at the end of the trek so we could soak in the beautiful views of the lake).
The trek made me experience views that are completely bookmarked in my head and very difficult for me to forget. The camping experience was nothing close to what I was expecting. Not only did we get hot meals but there was a selection of menus with different cuisines to choose from everyday. Also the dessert after every meal !! We got caramelised Bananas/ halwa/ fresh gulab jamuns- really could not have asked for more.
Coming from Calcutta the temperature at the camp was hard to get used to but they set up bonfires and did barbecues every other night so it made it much more relaxed.
I can go on and on but to cut it short, as a first time trekker I could not ask for more. Thank you team UFO for an experience that is going to stay with me for a long long time !

Kashmir Great Lakes Trek
Had a wonderful experience with UFO adventures and their team on the most beautiful treks in the country – The great lakes, Kashmir. The team was beyond nice and made sure everybody felt good during the trek. The things that set them apart are their trekking infrastructure, their supporting staff and limited number of people on the trek. They are passionate for trekking and you can feel the efforts these people are taking to make your trek a memorable experience. Overall Courteous, professional, and very safety oriented. I would highly recommend UFO for your adventures in Kashmir.

Mt. Stok Kangri Climb
I joined UFO on their Twin Peaks initiative in Ladakh and the experience could not have been better curated. From the start of the trip till the very end, everything was well organised to meet the best quality standards. The team is beautifully welcoming and cheerful! What started off as a bunch of strangers on a clean up drive and a summit expedition returned as great buddies with memories to cherish for a lifetime. The tents, food, and the management was top notch. The guides and trip leads were extremely experienced and accommodating. The kitchen team did wonders with the best meals and surprise treats every now and then. The itinerary was well planned to suit the high altitude while not leaving a single moment to waste. UFO beat my expectations and I can't wait to join them on more journeys.

Twin Peaks: Stok Kangri & Golep Kangri
Joined this great trip combining cleaning up base camps, and also summit two peaks from Stok Kangri base camp. Was very well organised, and most of all a great group of people! Was a wonderful few days spent with these guys. Great food, great company, and a great challenge! The trip is firmly etched in my memory as a highlight of that year!
My journey to the Holy lake of Gosaikunda. Situated at 4380m in the Langtang region in Nepal, it is a beautiful walk through forests and alpine landscape surrounded by the high mountains.
Writing
this in mid-May, 2018, it has been almost 2 months since i have returned from
the trek to Gosaikunda, a holy alpine lake situated in the Langtang region in
Nepal at 4380m. And my heart still skips a beat reminiscing about the first
view of snow and floating mist at Lauribena, the last stop before you reach the
high lake. I had trekked in Ladakh last year but had not trekked in Nepal. And
i live in Kathmandu! So i had my heart set out to do a high altitude trek in
Nepal in 2018. And when i got to know a
departure for Gosaikunda Lake in April, 2018,
i immediately signed up. And so
glad i did! Positive feelings of belonging, resting your heart to the view of
everlasting beauty, and coming close with nature have motivated me to trek
again and again.
Now i am not your typical trekker. I weigh 70 kgs
and 5’3” tall so not exactly fit, to be honest. And sometimes it's is difficult in the high altitude and steep
trail, but that didn’t stop me from walking up in the Himalayas to fulfill my
dream. I kept hearing from people,
whenever I spoke to them about me trekking, that I have to first be physically fit
and then go trekking. Its true but only partially. Trekking takes a toll on you
mentally as well as physically. And the inner strength on a trek matters most. Well, being outdoors has always been my dream and after raising 2
kids it has taken me a long time to realize it. My kids and husband have all
supported me and encouraged me to go out and gain new experiences.
My
first trek was in Ladakh, India where we walked from Rumtse to Tso kar in July,
2017. With three 5000m plus high passes, it was a tough trek, being my first
one, but stunning nonetheless. Trekking
with Ultimate Frontier Outlands (UFO
Adventure Travel), helped us as we were 4 first timers in the group. They
guided us through the mountains, maintaining pace and rhythm, breathing right
and short breaks to enjoy the view. Crossing each high pass was an achievement and camping
in the evenings with some delicious food was an incentive each day to reach the
next camp as fast as we could. Learning how to be 'mountain smart' and meeting your inner
strength, patience, the new you; that
was remarkable and I was proud of myself at the end of the trek.
So
when UFO contacted me about the trek to Gosaikunda in April 2018, I knew what I
was getting into. I had to prepare myself mentally first and then did a bit of
fitness training. As i walk slowly, UFO
made sure there was a guide always with me. Helping me , encouraging me and
making sure that i enjoyed my walk. UFO
does good study on their clients and make sure that their requirements are met.
This was a 7 day planned trek and we
left Kathmandu for Dhunche on 31st March. A 7 hour drive on an almost non-existent
road isnt a bright start to a trek. But the next day our walk to Sing Gompa more
than made up for it. A decently steep climb with steps along the trail (i hate
climbing steps!) we reached Sing Gompa by 3 pm after a 6 hour walk. We were
staying and having our meals in mountain lodges (the one in Sing Gompa had an
attached bathroom!) . We met other trekkers at the lodge and exchanged stories
and had beautiful views of the fog covering the mountains at sunset. The next
day we trekked to Lauribena at 3900m. Walking through tall pine forests in the
mist was almost surreal. We could finally witness the high peaks of Ganesh
Himal (7422m) and Langtang Lirung (7234m) from our lodge.
The
next day we had to stay the night at Gosaikunda at 4380 m. But as i had a
little mountain sickness, i decided to trek up to Gosaikunda and then walk back
down to Lauribena to stay the night while Anant and Aatir would stay back at
the lodge next to the lake. A challenging 3 hour climb through jagged mountain
side and snow covered paths, we finally made it to our destination, Gosaikunda.
The alpine lake is believed to have been created by Lord Shiva when he thrust
his 'Trishul' (holy Trident) into a mountain to
extract water so that he could cool his stinging throat after he had swallowed
poison.
Half
covered with mist, with snow capped mountains in the background it was a
breathtaking sight. I would have loved to gaze on the morning views there but
sadly had to return to Lauribena after lunch. The flexibility of convenience was
so comforting and I have always loved
this fact traveling with UFO Adventure Travel. I left for Sing Gompa the next
morning while Anant and Aatir were to join me there by lunch. Anant started
having problems with his knee and was unable to walk further down. Therefore,
we called in a helicopter rescue the next day to fly us back to Kathmandu. A
thrilling flight over the Langtang region to Kathmandu to finish of a stunning
trek!
The
mountain lodges were very cozy and comfortable. There was dining area with a
'bukhari' burning which kept everyone warm. All the trekkers are there, making
friends, playing games or just enjoying the sounds of conversations. Food was
homely, freshly cooked and all the hosts were really wonderful and always
smiling. The stunning views, crisp fresh air made you feel good about yourself,
cleansing the inner negatives and giving you
positive perspective and energy. I came back from Gosaikunda fresh and
rejuvenated for my family and work. Looks like i have found my 'family' in the
wilderness with UFO Adventure Travel.
